I think I waited too late to purchase a new Sony A700, and I am disappointed. Have any of you purchased the A850 or A900, and what are your pros and cons. I do understand that the 850 is a bit heavy. I am looking for more clear ISO range.Since I started with the Sony A100 and now have multiple lens, I find it to be toooooooo costly to change cameras and really don't want to since the Sony has been a fine camera. Any advise or suggestion would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks

Jackie-

I have not used either one (nor any Sony for that matter) but they got some decent reviews, especially for resolution and the Zeiss lens selections. I think that high ISO was just not what Canon and Nikon could do.

I also think these two are in essence the same camera with only the price drop of the 850 being different as both are full frame.

Hopefully we have some Sony shooters who can chime in.

Good luck!!

I am using for 2 years the A900 and I love it. Of course some say about the noise issue, but hey how many photos do you take at 1600 ISO honestly. How many of them do you print at A3+ ? Now if you already have some lenses go into the A850 or A900. These are almost identical cameras that can give you especially for landscape some amazing results especially when coupled with good lenses from Sony Zeiss cooperation (24-70 and 16-35, 135) the old Minolta constructions rebranded Sony (70-200/2.8, or the famous STF lens)

I have good news and bad news about the A700. The good news is that Sony is going to replace the A700 model. They introduced the prototype at the Consumer Electronic Show 2011. It was locked behind glass and no specs were given. I did see a photo however that showed video has been added to the replacement. Now, for the bad news: Sony has not released an unveiling date for the new camera. There seems to be a lot of frustration among Sony purist about the replacement causing the usual diagreements. If your looking for a new A700, try the larger online camera outlets. I recently bought a new A700 "demo" and saved a bundle. One last point. The A700 is not a light weight camera, especially if you add a vertical grip and a "G" telephoto. Good Luck.
