Sandhill Cranes
Finally made my way out to Bosque Del Apache but can only stay for 2 days. I will be leaving tomorrow after the morning shoot...but WOW, this place is awesome! Here are just a few. I have many shots to work my way through. Hope everyone had a great Christmas!

I shot all of these with my 500mm.

KB + BdA = EPIC! Can't wait to see more than these awesome teasers. I esp. love the first one with the neat mountain backdrop.

Yeah, that first one is stunning! Not that the rest are slouches at all. I really like the pano. cropped images. 'Bout time you made it down to that area. You really did this place some justice, Kurt! :toast:

Absolutely love number 1!! Love the takeoff also.

Love the energy of the take off one, really nice set!

Yeah, the mountain backdrop and the pano takeoff are stand-outs in an all-around excellent set! Are there lots of birds down there? I might head down when I visit my folks in Magdalena this weekend (just to watch, I don't have the glass for this stuff).

Great first set. I really like that last takeoff run.
Too bad you only had a short time, but I'm sure you will return ASAP.

Nice stuff! I like #1 best and also #3.

All of 'em are excellent. #1 is my fav though, I really like wildlife environmental images. Nice personality in that last one.

All are very nice with good lighting, but pano #3 grabs me most. I especially like the flared tip feathers in pano3.

Great stuff, Kurt. The 1st, with the great backdrop is remarkable and the cranes running on water for takeoff is a story in a single image. :toast:

Great shots Kurt! The 500mm did the trick.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Jackson, I could be wrong, but when I looked at the board, I think it said about 16,000 cranes and over 30,000 snow geese....so yea...tons! If you go, get there before sunrise and watch the blast off of the snow geese. There is nothing else like it. AQctually take your gear....animalscapes are plentiful....especially on foggy mornings with those blast offs.

Excellent series Kurt!

My favorite is the pano take-off

Well done

Just a repeat but the background colors on #1 are fantastic. Also like the take off you captured it right on. I haven't been down there in several years. It sure is a magical place especially when the sun comes up on the ponds. Wish it wasn't such a long drive.

Great shots! Were you shooting hand-held or on tripod?
Love the take-off shot.
