Avocet - swimming
Someone asked awhile ago if the wading shorebirds ever SWAM. I've never seen one swimming before, but here is a swimming avocet.
Not a great image, but it IS swimming!

Wow, I must be a really bad photographer because I think this picture is absolutely fantastic, What makes it Not a great Image? Because it is too centered?
I like it, I like the litte drop of water coming off its beak.

Thanks, but...
Self-critique:

Flat colors, poor light, dull uninteresting water, no detail in the whites, not a great reflection.
The Avian gallery here is full of incredible shots - and this is not one of them!

I've yet to see an avocet swim, but I've posted a swimming Black-necked Stilt here at NPN in the past.

cool, Sandy. I believe I've seen this once in avocets too, but can't think of any other waders/shorebirds (except phalaropes, obviously).
