Small rockfall just east of the Yosemite View lodge heading up the canyon has closed 140 temporarily. Looking at the image in the link, probably not closed for very long.

Sure glad I wasn't under that puppy when it went...

Be safe out there folks!

I hear you loud and clear Lon. I was coming down Tioga very early one morning when a VW Bug sized boulder landed in the other lane going uphill. It just missed another vehicle on the other side by 20 feet or so.
As a side note, the ongoing rains down here in So Cal took out the 330 hwy a major artery from San Bernardino to the popular mountain communities of Running Springs, Lake Arrowhead, Crestline, and Big Bear Lake. Worst time of the year for those folks with the ski resort and all the support businesses in those areas. They seem to think it may take several months to a year to fix it. As a result people living in the area must travel hours around to one of the other highways through Redlands or Lucerne Valley. :frown:

As of this morning, 12/31, Hwy 140 is still closed due to the rockfall.

Hi guys,
I was coming back from the Valley last night and the road was still closed, with a detour over 120. My impression was they would clear the slide fairly quickly, but who knows... Best Regards.

Good to hear, Preston.......

Here is the ugly look at the Hwy 330 collapse in So Cal. This truly is a major outage down here.
