Dont know if I have posted this yet, but I found this Cactus as a nice silhouette for this particular evening's sunset while traveling around the Utah/Arizona border. The image wold have been really bland without it.

This one doesn't really get me too excited, just not much that pulls me in.
I personally don't find "competing" elements, but rather the dark clouds holding the eye in the scene and maintaining tonal balance. I like the silhoette and I like the illuminated pools more. Overall though, it's not getting me real excited either though.
I doubt I'll print this...or even put it on my site...although one never knows if this will strike a cord with someone else...I dont know...I'll play with the comp some later, but with the resounding collective...I'll move onto another image to spend time on
