PhotoRumors.com has a post on their site about a supposed price increase, up to 10% due to the weak US dollar. I switched to Canon in Nov 2007 so I don;t have a lot of history with them... does a price increase from Canon like this seem quite possible based on past history? If so, maybe the rebates that end in 6 days are something we need to jump on. I've got my sights on the 50mm/1.2, so I'd be interested in hearing a long-time Canon user's take on a rumor like this. If it's true that could add $140 to the price of that lens. Not fun.

OK, I just called Tempe Camera, a big dealer in AZ, and they said it's absolutely true, and with the current rebates, the prices are as good as they're gonna get. So if you're thinking of a new lens, maybe it's time to pull the trigger. And if you own L glass and maybe want to sell, hang on for a month, your resale value is about to increase.

Hi Paul,
The last increase pushed my 500 f.4 up about $700. . Thanks for the heads up.

Wow, that's huge.
Three days left on the rebates. I noticed AbesOfMaine.com has the same prices as B&H, free shipping, and with the code LOYALTY15 you can knock $15 off your purchase. Plus if you have a BillMeLater account, you can get an additional 1% CashBack if you purchase at B&H or Abes or Newegg. Just make sure your click to start the process at the BillMeLater site.

Price increases are evil.
