As some of you have seen from my recent photo posts, I was lucky enough to enjoy a three week trip to the south polar regions, including Tierra del Fuego, the Falkland Islands, South Georgia Island, the South Orkney Islands and the Antarctic Peninsula.

I've posted a trip web site with some of my photos, portions of my journal and tips for anyone thinking of such a trip. It's a stunningly beautiful part of the planet, and while humankind has had an impact there - ozone depletion, global warming, hunting marine mammals to "commercial extinction" - it's not immediately obvious. The impression you take away is that it is largely unspoiled. Let's try to keep it that way.

What an adventure Jim! I skulked around for almost an hour on your post and read your entire journal. Enjoyed every minute of it.

Superb Jim! A fabulous way to document the trip. Something I've always wanted to do, the information you've provided is invaluable as well.

What an interesting trip that must of been, I have always wanted to see the Antarctic. I went to your link and never left, read the entire journal, check the maps and all photos. That must of been something going through the LeMaire Channel. Thanks for taking the time to put up the trip website, really enjoyed it!

Very interesting, informative, and entertaining site/journal. I'm afraid it may have been a very expensive read for me though
