Partridge- No Pear Tree
This Chukar was all puffed up trying to stay warm in subzero temperatures. I liked his color markings especially the red eyes, beak and legs. Photographed in Summit County.

What a splendidly colored bird! I didn't realize that chukar were in the mountains, I always thought they were a plains bird. #1 is my favorite because of the puffed out feathers, but #2 is a close second because of the action and the feet/legs being visible

Really nice shots! I love chukars, I think they're just splendidly beautiful birds, and for non-natives they seem to fit in pretty nicely in the West, at least as far as I know. I've never seen one puffed out like that, though. They're all over the river canyons in Idaho, Don. I also got to see them on their native soil in Turkey last year, at the weekly Istanbul Pigeon Bazaar. The Turks are quite fond of them and keep them as ornamentals.

First time I've ever seen these birds, too.
Real glad to see 'em for the first time captured so damned well! You must have gotten fairly close to them, eh?
I do wish there was a catch light in the eyes of image #2 (hint).
Really fine work, Bob!

Awesome shots!! Those birds are hard to get close too in any conditions. #1 is my favorite with the feathers all fluffed and the light. Nice!!
