Hey! They got me climbing El Capitan! I didn't sign any model release! What the heck is a GIGApixel?

That's actually a rather pleasing composition from Glacier Point.
Most of these gigapixel photographers seem to get so wrapped up in creating huge images that they forget about making a good photograph.
I couldn't find any info about the focal length used. I assume it was a telephoto, but how long?

My computer crashed just viewing the website.
2,046 shots!

I wonder how someone could take over 2000 photos of something without the sun angle changing or losing track of where they are in the composition. They can't possibly be doing that in only a matter of minutes.
My computer or Photoshop crashes just trying to stitch 20 photos together, let alone over 2000!
Bill, there is a link below that photo for the image info. It was shot with a 300mm and 1.7x teleconverter on a Nikon.

Wow, those are impressive! I'm guessing they use an automated head, kinda like the Gigapan. I can't imagine how long it takes to process such a large image though.

Sure glad none of those climbers were answering the call of nature at the time, or who knows, maybe there were other climbers that weren't highlighted for that reason.
I just had a new computer built with 24GB of RAM and an SSD harddrive, but I certainly was not entertaining the thought of processing even a 1 Gigabyte photo, let alone 17GB. He must have access to a "super computer" or daisy-chains multiple computers to create his own super computer, in order to process that in a reasonable time period.
