I am not sure what is meant by an outdoor studio for wildlife and bird photography - I saw one mentioned somewhere a while ago, but just saw Phil H's shot of a lichen on a perch for birds in his outdoor studio, and I am a bit confused as to what it is.

Thanks

Oscar...

The Lichen image isn't from an outdoor studio, it was taken in a nice warm insulated and large shed that lives at the bottom of our garden, we have made it into a studio/office/bird watching hide (our feeders are just outside the double glazed window)....

Anyway, my take on an 'outdoor studio' would be somewhere that you have more control over the elements that go into making the image such as light control with reflectors, subtractors etc.

Dale when he sets up his high speed flash for birds in flight could be said to be utilising an outdoor studio....

I saw a presentation from a Spanish photographer who set up an infinity pool with rocks and branches strategically placed at one end, and a permanent hide cum shed at the other, with room for two. I would call that an outdoor studio. A lot of effort, but the results were pretty good too.
