Sparrow ID
Caught this morning in West Central IL. My books either don't explain or show enough to help me (could just be me).
There were only a couple around. My Winter project is smaller birds so I have been paying more attention and shooting more than in the past. Thanks for the help. f9 1/1000 ISo 400 1000mm eq.

As one who has only recently (last fifteen years...) begun to differentiate among the LBJs, I'd offer the possibility that this is a first- winter white-crowned sparrow, but stand fully prepared to stand corrected ! ?

I'd definitely go with Richard on this, given that there are about a billion of them in his area right now!!
