Wichita Mountains
Did a quick overnight trip to the Wichita Mountains of southwest Oklahoma.

Caught this late Saturday afternoon. It had been clear most of the day after some morning fog (see pic 2 below) but a few clouds appeared in the north in the last couple of hours of daylight allowing me to get this.

Saw some buffalo, longhorn, a bald eagle, and lots of geese-but no elk.

Some nice light over the day and a half, plus the cold snap had frozen over some of the lakes. If fact that's some ice on the far shore here.

Arrived in the fog and got this from Mt Scott.

My meager attempt at wildlife photography. I am sure you birders can pick it apart but not bad for a guy using mirror lockup.

And the nice clouds we had this morning.

Nice work Darren. The first image intrigues me visually. On one hand I like how the blue ice contrasts with and separates the warmer tones of mountains & reflections but on the other hand the ice is so cool blue it draws my eyes in and won't let go. Lovely scene.

Hey Darren, The first shot with the reflections has a very peaceful feel to it. I like the way it is divided into "thirds" horizontally . The last shot portrays the vastness of the country. Nicely done.

Thanks guys!

Here is another from lake Quannah Parker at sunset. Again I went for the panorama.

Ahhh, that's some sweet light and I like how it has softened the blue of the ice. Good stuff!

Hey Darren, the light in the last shot is really nice!

Darren, you had some good times there! I really like the soft light in the last one.

Beautiful Darren, love that last one you posted, wow.

Thanks.

I had used a grad filter but had also bracketed the images of that last sunset view thinking I still might need to HDR it, but this is from a single frame. Love being able to pull things out of a RAW file.
