As suggested by forum members, let's start a thread where we can post alerts for each other. Use this thread as a way to communicate a new or cool location, or a bird or animal sighting that others might be interested in.
Let's share our locations and sightings.

OK since I was one that wanted this thread I will start. I have been hearing lots of reports about pygmy owls in forest park on the wildwood trail between milepost 22-24. I will be out checking it out during the coming weeks and will update those interested.

I like this idea. However, a bit more description of locations would help me. For instance, Wade's post about pygmy owls. I don't know where Forest Park is, and that addition would help me. Thanks for starting this great idea.

Hey ralph , forest park is just on the outskirts of portland oregon. You can google it and find all the different trailhead locations.

Anyone been out to the Columbia Hills yet to see how the balsam root/lupine are coming along?

Camas flowers are starting to show and the hills are turning green at Mt. Pisgah/Buford Park Recreation Area in Eugene. The annual Mt. Pisgah Arboretum Wildflower Show is May 15.
Gorge Report: I went out to the Elowah falls area today to check things out. The greens are definitely out and going, but are still about 1-2 weeks from peak. Same goes for wildflowers. There were some small flowers open, but lots that are still budding. The classic view of Elowah Falls is now obstructed due to a huge tree which fell right where everyone used to go. I didn't shoot any from there, but the tree basically fell right where the water is running in the foreground of my image. Lots of water out there as well. Seems like the spring snow melt has started.

A couple of friends and I rode the Spirit Lake Highway to the Johnson Visitor Center last Sunday. The flowers are peaking and looking nice on the road in and at the center.
Since I was on my bicycle I didn't have my binoculars along, so I can't say what the conditions were on the plains between the crater and Spirit Lake. The website still lists Windy Ridge as closed due to snow on the road, so the flowers on the east side may run late like last year?
The Old McKenzie Highway, Oregon route 242, has finally melted out and is now open for the season. Easy access to Proxy Falls, and to views of the Three Sisters from McKenzie Pass, Dee Wright Observatory and Scott Lake.
