Backyard Arch
I haven't been out a whole lot over the past few weeks but Todd's cool star image inspired me to go ahead and post these. I took them at the Devil's Backbone Keyhole west of Loveland after the snowstorm last week. This was taken from the west ridge where unobstructed views of the backbone are becoming more and more difficult to find due to development in the area. The bright side I suppose is that the new roads there are closer to the keyhole - not a bad thing to be able to quickly duck back into your car for warmth when the temperatures are in the single digits. Still, having to look for compositions between houses is a bit of a challenge. I thought a B&W conversion suited this one best.

Pretty stellar. The B&W is nice, adds more texture to the mountain ridge.

Here's a vertical, color version. This was taken about half an hour or so before sunset. Unfortunately, the interesting clouds above moved away before receiving any colorful after-sunset glow. Nevertheless, it's not a bad day in the neighborhood when you're able to get out for some January photography.

Gotta say, both of these are really nice, but the color one just sings!

Yet another place I've not seen before. You did a fine job capturing these, Josh!
B&W was a great choice for the first, but I slightly prefer the soft light, color and vertical composition of #2.

Nice work, Josh. I really like them both. I'm glad you persevered at this spot. I was scouting this area awhile back and the houses totally put me off. I wish I'd been more persistent.

Both are fine shots, but I agree with Todd about the color being a little more appealing, At least to me, but I most generally prefer color, so take that for what it's worth. I just really like the color and light in it.

I like the B&W and this particulair image a little more than the color. Both are great images however. I have been down that way and have looked at the possibilities but with all the development I have passed it by. Nice shots to get and some work!!

Nice! I think id crop some of the sky in two, at least the top part. :wavey:

Both are nice in their own way. For me, I like negative space when appropriate and think it works well in two - a future cover. By the way, how are you doing your BW conversion?

I dig 'em both, leaning toward the first. If the original of the first has the sme color as the second it would be the clear favorite for me. The hints of snow are an excellent accent.
