Just a fun question..... Where are the places YOU want to go to the most..... the places on the top of your list to see and experience?
Mine are Scotland, Ireland, Alaska and Hawaii. Never been to Scotland or Ireland. I have been to Alaska and Hawaii in the early 80's but I want to visit again to show my family and use my new camera equipment and better photo skills (hopefully) to capture better pics than I have in the past. Scotland and Ireland.... because I see a different kinda light there (in others images)..... but not to different than what I see on Cape Breton Island....... but I have to see it for myself..... the eerie light as I call it. The light that emerges from the heavens on the most dismal of days if only for moments.
What are your places..... the places you want to go to the most and why?
BTW - Moved this to Member Lounge since more appropriate there and was not thinking at the time.

Patagonia and the Himalayas are the top contenders for where I'd like to go for photography purposes. I feel at home in mountainous landscapes.
2010 was a good year for me, in that I got to live abroad and travel for 8 months, so I got to check quite a few places off the list. New Zealand was especially rewarding.

For photography? Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Antarctica should be on most folks list, but I got lucky this winter and made the trip. I am fond of Alaska, too.
Ireland this year for the first time
Scotland - I am always amazed I love to go there, this will be for the 4th time this year
Iceland - my 2012 dream destination
Lofoten Islands in Norway - maybe this year it will work
Canada,
New Zealand,
USA national parks

There are a few off-the-beaten-path sections of Rhode Island I want to check out. In Sweden I've not photographed in the southern part of the country -- want to get there when those huge wide fields are yellow with rapeseed.

The Pantanal. I've been a fan of tropical wildlife photography for a while now, and the desire to shoot wild jaguars has boosted Brazil to the top of my list.
I would like to spend and entire spring, summer, and autumn wandering around in the Sierra high country with a pot load of film and my 4x5, and the winter shooting on the Sierra East Side, Death Valley, and Owens Valley.
Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico are also on my list.
I would also like to visit Patagonia, and make a return trip to the Cordillerra Huayhuash in Peru with my 4x5.

I'd like to spend some more time in the Pacific Northwest, Hawaii, Alaska, New England / midwest during fall season and Italy.
Back to Hawaii and Alaska with digital for me too, Eva! As well as New Zealand, Patagonia, Scotland, Iceland, Pacific Northwest, Canadian Rockies, and the Northeast in the fall.
I would say Zion but wasn't every living photographer there this fall?

My ambitions might seem tame by comparison, but I'd love to visit all the major national parks in the lower 48. I've been to the Tetons a few times, but only once since getting into photography. Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Glacier... Pacific Northwest and definitely Alaska. Those stops should satisfy my love for mountains. Then I'd still need to hit the Everglades or other coastal areas (or Bosque, Texas, Arizona) for birds.

For me it would be everywhere Eva, just step out my door and not return until I have seen the whole world, I have traveled a lot before I found my camera and that is my only regret in life is that I never thought to see it all through my view finder!!! I am most happy when I am exploring a new place, now I get to bring my camera as well! Cheers
