Try saying that Seven times fast!
Finally polished off the last of several hundred shots from the four day weekend that I had thanks to Martin Luther King Jr.
Left Friday and got to CO Ntl Monument for sunset, then spent Sat heading to Escalante with some hikes along the way. Then, tried to get down Hole in the Rock road (original plan was spooky-peekaboo slots) but only made it 16 miles with my 2WD, so after a stop at Devils Garden for sunrise, went back to Capitol Reef and did a few day hikes, and Panorama point for sunset. Said Hi to Guy Tal Monday morning and did some more hiking in Capitol Reef before headed back to CO Ntl monument for another sunset!
I destroyed probably my 10th or 11th CPLs on this trip--smashed one after slipping on some ice on the rim of the CO Ntl MOnument, then knocked my tripod over at Capitol Reef and smashed yet another pro CPL, this time so badly that i had to stop in Montrose on the way back to have it cut off my lens Good thing i dont make my living at this, cause i would have negative income from all the gear i break. But it did give me an excuse to hike up to Pulpit Rock and Cross Fissures in Black Canyon (While i waited for my lens to be fixed).
So, here's the trip highlites, a bit long (5 pages) so make sure you have some food and drink handy before you view
Thanks for any feedback!
What a beautiful trip Stan. I love the two sunrise shots on page one. Those two are about perfect. On page 3 you have a killer Black and White, I think it's #2. On page 4, #7 is very nice. I like the verical perspective better than the horizontal. The horizon on that vertical perspective shows a little bright, nothing a little ND filter action can't fix.

Thanks, Kane--yeah i noticed that bright top after i posted it, i can correct that. That is one of the stitches i had to do (forced to use my telephoto since my wide angle had a mangled CPL stuck to it )
Fairly fantastic folio!
Just a highly productive trip with many winners. My faves are the 2 sunrise shots from Monument Rim.

Quite a collection, Stan! I really like Oh, Colorado, Aerodynamic, Cohab Beckons, and Colorado Sunset.

A very nice collection from your 4 day "vacation".
I really like those sunset pastels in your Hery Mountain shots.
What stopped you on the Hole-in-the-Rock road. Snow/mud or washouts/ruts?

Stan, this is such a treasure trove of awesomeness that I was actually disappointed when I got to the end of page 5. Great haul! Another thing I find astounding is your mastery of controlling the light in post. Beyond the halo around a couple of the CNM tree pics, every single image retains so much detail throughout the range of light. These are some pretty tricky lighting situations, but you have obviously learned how to tame them. You should give a clinic.

Very productive trip Stan! My favorite is #5 on the first page, I lost track of all the other favorites there were so many. I like most of your "vista" images, you were able to achieve real nice depth in a lot of those images.

Great stuff Stan. Really enjoy some of those sunrise shots!

Thanks guys! Bill--the road was fine until mile 16 or 17--then it got muddy and rutted real fast, and even if i might have had an outside chance making it, i didnt feel like pressing my luck. According to Guy, this is where the county line changes the maintenance priorities.

So much goodness here Stan!! I enjoyed all the images and really liked the image with this subtitle: Crazy sunrise light on the rim. Great shots!

I think my favs were the naural arch shots but all are amazing Stan! Remind me to buy stock in whatever brand CPLs you use.
Great stuff, Stan! I'm glad I took your advice and waited till I could enjoy these at leisure with a beer. Too many good ones to mention all, but the ones from Sunset Point really stand out for me.

I also popped open a cream stout and truly enjoyed the ride!
My favorites are:
Pg. 1 - The two sunrise shots on Monument Rim and Twisted Pine.
Pg. 2 - Telephoto view of the Henry's at sunset.
Pg. 3 - The Castle. Best b&w of the lot..much better than the one at ES&S, IMO. 'Window'
Pg. 4 - 'Crazy Patterns', 'Fremont R. Reflections', 'View from Sunset Pt.' (vert.) & 'Mixed Sky'.
Pg. 5 - 'Natural Arch', 'Sunset, Moonrise' & 'Grand View Sunset'.
Looks like it was a very successful trip. Glad you had a good time and were able to score so many fine images!

What a great series. I especially like the sunrise photos on the first page. Many of the black and white photos are also excellent.

Good stuff there Stan. From the looks of it you had a fun and productive time.
Wow, what a trip! My fav is page 2 "First Light in Devils Garden" The lighting is great in all these.

Stan, I have looked through the set about 4 times, but have not commented. Grabbing me each time were the two sunrise shots of CNM on page one, and the B&Ws of the Castle and Matate. The twigs along the bottom of the second, "crazy sunrise", are a little bothersome. Great trip.
