Hello and some Utah photos
It was really nice meeting folks from here last night at the gallery. I've lurked here for some time and I promised myself that I would start posting. So, here I go. I recently took a short trip out to Utah. Besides Colorado, Utah is quickly becoming my favorite state to visit and photograph. The first image is Factory Butte at sunrise. I really love the lines that lead up to that Butte! The second image is of Pectol's Pyramid in Capitol Reef.

Hello and thanks for looking

Those volcanic boulders make a great foreground in #2. Great colors.

The second one really rocks.....ha! No pun intended. Really really nice!

Another vote for the second photo. Nice composition.

The first one just doesn't work as well for me. On my monitor, it looks like it could use more contrast.

Not bad for your first two posts. Welcome! :wavey:

Sweet light on both of these! I like 'em.
Factory Butte itself could indeed use a bit of a contrast bump. The Pyramid is my favorite..great composition! I'd love to visit that place. Did you camp nearby?

These are both great, Tad (agree w/John on a contrast bump for Factory Butte), but holy cow, that second one is masterful! The trio of foreground rocks just sells it.

That second one is really well done. Great light.

These are excellent, Tad! Here's a quiz for the group: how did these volcanic rocks get on top of the sandstone?
Hint: the lava originally bubbled out of what today is Boulder Mountain, which is several miles away.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I really appreciate it.

I'll play around with the Factory Butte shot and bump the contrast.

Guy, weren't they deposited by landslides from Boulder Mountain and floods/high waters carrying them?

Welcome aboard, Tad! These are both wonderful images. Personally, I like the contrast in #1 the way it is. I look forward to seeing more of your posts.

Tad, Nice light, color and composition with the three main volcanic rocks in #2 Pectol's Pyramid.

Tad, close but it wasn't a landslide. These boulders can be found dozens of miles away from Boulder Mountain.

Gorgeous color and light and the textures are just as lovely. Both are equally strong imo.

Nice Tad, I almost fell out of my chair because you actually posted pictures the same month that you shot them.

Sweet shots, Tad! If you wanna see a killer shot of Factory Butte, stop by Guy T's gallery some time, hes got a real 'beaut' hanging up!
