New BMW
Gail and I have been a bit behind on photography lately. Our time and effort has been taken up by traveling to pick up our new BMW. We bought it locally, but chose to take advantage of BMWs Performance Center Delivery. With this delivery process BMW puts you up in a hotel for a night and then the next day 1. delivers your car (2 hour process), gives you a performance drivers' school in one of THEIR cars, and a factory tour. We than drove the 13 hours home (2 days).

All of this was followed by work and the various meetings we have during the week. So, here we are and I have finally gotten some images processed of the baby.

For those of you who are car nuts like us the car is a 535i X drive (all wheel drive), with sport package, cold weather package, premium package, dynamic handling package, park distance control, navigation, split rear seats and park distance control. All in all an absolutely fabulous car that will (has to) last us a long, long time.

Image is the car and me in front of the BMW Factory in Spartanburg, SC.

Wow! What a nice machine. I appreciate the special place vehicles can hold for us, and it really warms me to see someone get (and appreciate) what they really want. That's coming from a guy whose current lust is for a 1950 Chevy pickup!

Niiiice. When I first started reading your little story I thought you were referring to the ability to pick the car up in Germany (I'm pretty sure BMW has that). I have a Volvo S40 which I got at a nice discount (being as it was a demo car with 5K miles on it) but for my next volvo I'd love to go to Sweden where you tour the factory, get to drive YOUR car around for 2 days and get put up in a hotel. Oh, and I believe there is a 10% discount (or something like that) attached to the purchase price on top of the free trip to Sweden. Nice deal!

Thanks for all the comments! Luke, we thought about European Delivery, but just couldn't work out the timing.

Very nice, Ed! I too have a BMW, but mine only has 2 wheels. :-)

Congratulations on your new car, it looks great. I have a 535Xi and a Z4 and love them both. I've been considering doing the Germany factory pick up for my next BMW, but if my wife and I can't swing that time wise, the Spartanburg options sounds great. Then you can have a road trip back home in the new car. Thanks for sharing the experience. :toast:
