Or elk etchings, I guess, since they are responsible for most of these patterns seen on the aspen boles. These are from around the stand on the south side of Lily Lake and some in RMNP.
Sorry to be posting so much, but work has been slow, so I've had more time to shoot than normally. In respect to that, how about some more posts from you who don't post very often. The only thing I like to do more than shoot photographs is look at other's shots, so come on you "wallflowers" let's see some work from the many who are so great about commenting on posts, but don't post their own work often enough.
Yeah, I'm callling you out by name:
Art, Jack, Don, Bob Falcone(although you did post one recently), Scott, Bill Pelzmann, Ed Fuhr, Jason J., Brian, Rod, Bill B., Paul W., Steven P., and any others that I might have missed.
The first one here is called, "Front and center," for lack of a more creative title.
Comments and critiques always welcome, and thanks for looking,
Morris
See you all at the shindig! Lord willing and Cherry Creek don't rise.

#5 I have no title for this, but thought the patterns were cool.

#7 and this is a treasure map done by a bug. It tells me I can find the treasure only on a full moon rising over Rattlesnake Mountain and the flag shows the treasure location is marked by the flag by the river near the lake.

Dang it, forgot the picture!

Nice stuff, Morris. The first couple strike me as a bit too busy, which can sometimes be a good thing (see image #3), but the little aspen twigs make 'em a little discombobulated to my eye. I love the close-ups of the elk graffiti.
I actually don't mind the chaos in #3. I think it would make a nice BW conversion... But then again, I try to convert everything so it might just be me

Like #3 best. I like the first one as well, but agree the underbrush makes it a little busy. You couldn't pull those out?
Posted by Jim Bennett on January 24, 2011 at 12:58 PM
I see the same things in #4 and #6, except that I don't know what Todd looks like. I really like those. As for the first three, I think that they are well done, but they don't do anything for me. It's probably because I've seen so many of those kinds of shots before.
You are right that some of us should be posting more photos, including me. I prefer to post my recent photos and I haven't been out shooting much lately.

Morris, #3 is my preference. Sure looks like the elk and deer are hungry for aspen bark.

Superb work, as usual, Morris, #3 and #5 are my favorites. I really like the tone of the images.

#3 is my favorite too but while Aleks likes to convert everything to B&W (which would work well IMO) I see most images as panoramics. A pretty severe crop up from the bottom and a little in from the left would eliminate a lot of the underbrush. I'm not saying....I'm just saying..
Yes, Aleks, it is just you. Actually I will have to try that, and with Bill's suggestion of a pano crop. Thanks to both of you
Lance, I tried.
Jim, you are too jaded. And bring on some old stuff!
Doug, they put up fences in RMNP to keep the elk away from the aspen. They are decimating the aspen forest because there are so many of them.

I too like #3. I was going to give the pano suggestion, but it looks like Bill beat me to it. I kinda like the simplicity of the last one. Good luck in your treasure hunt. Reminds me of an old "prospector" I recently met who said he had found hidden treasures left by both the Spanish and the French near Del Norte. He then proceeded to tell me about the numerous encounters he'd had with aliens in the San Luis Valley.
Now, that is funny, Grant! Although, it might not hurt to follow up.

Very interesting, Morris. I like #3 the most.

Morris, you are fortunate to see so creatively. Enjoyed all. Like 2 and 3 best.

These are amazing, especially 4 & 7! That really does look like Todd
I dont mind the lack of posts, im perfectly fine if they rename this forum the "Todd, followed by Morris, followed by Stan, followed by Todd Forum"

Real interesting! I'd no idea what scuffed and scarred these trees. I swear, I learn (or see) something new here all the time!
A pano. crop on #3 is a good idea, but my favorite is the first. Real nice b&w conversion, and the selective focus is very appealing. Good eye for detail, Morris. But...why no love for #1?

Interesting series, Morris! I love detail shots of Aspen, these are nice.

You have a way with making chaos look good, Morris. I really like #3 and as a few others have mentioned, I'm envisioning a pano crop. I also like the selective focus look on #1.
BTW, thanks for calling me out. I need a kick in the pants to get motivated to post more. Being on a computer for many hours a day at work takes a toll on my motivation to process my images. I need a secretary!

Nice set! I like the detail in the close-ups. Good eye!
Morris, are you the new in-house Hall Monitor?

DJ, I think I may have created a monster.
Hey, wait a minute, you need to post more, too!
