Hot and Cold
Thanks Morris for the necessary jump start on this forum. I think we all benefit from motivation like that.

Anyway, here are two from me.

First one is from this past summer captured during a Colorado River rafting trip between Fruita,CO and Cisco, UT. Was lucky enough to try to paddle a raft down the river but kept getting blown up river by this insane thunder storm. One of those adventures that are hard to forget. Anyway, the storm produced some insane clouds and beautiful light that evening. I think one of my friends has a picture of me on my own on these rocks as the rest of the group is drinking and having fun. One of those defining moment about who I am and what I would rather be doing

Second is from this past Christmas in Yellowstone. Not much to explain in this one so I'll leave it at that.

Two great shots! #1 is wonderful! Love the light on the clouds, the glowing sandstone cliffs and the smooth water. makes me want to get on a raft! :toast:

OK, since I'm in a dumpster diving mode I found one more from this summer. Kind of kills my post title but let's go with "luke warm" for this one

These are some great shots! Love those foreground rocks and the clouds in #1. That's an area I need to get back to!

Morris needs to call people out more often. These are fabulous, Aleks. I love the sky in that first one. I envision #2 as a nice B&W, and I love the punchy colors and contrast in #3.

Oh yeah, Aleks! That is some wonderful light and color on the rocks and clouds in the first one, and an excellent comp with the rocks and river in the foreground. Todd will love that second one, and I do too for those draped aroung the moutain. And I love the summer colors in the last one. Great shots!

Whoa Aleks. That first shot is just sick. TS lens? Second shot is definitely my favorite of the stuff you've posted from Yellowstone. It might be a nice B&W as some have mentioned but I kinda like it just the way it is. Nice work

#1 is a stunner Aleks! All the different textures, and the orange highlights in the clouds really make this pop, well done!

You do the art of photography so proud Aleks :toast:

Stunning, stunning and stunning! Especially love that second one. I never think of big mountains when I think of Yellowstone. Stupid, huh?

Very Nice! The river shot is my favorite. I rafted the Colorado from Moab to Hite last fall. We had nice, clear weather all week, which was great for rafting but not so great for photography. You got some nice photo conditions and used them well.

Being a kayaker, when I don't have a camera in my hands, I have a special fondness for that 1st one even though I've never done that stretch. I have done the Class 3,4 Westwater run just downriver from there many years ago. The color in the clouds and matched on the cliffs is a real eye-grabber.

Did you stop and explore the arches in Rattlesnake Canyon on your float trip?

All three of these are excellent! At first i thought the foreground in #1 was a bit of a disconnect from the rest of the scene, but that almost sculpted hole in the rock changed my mind. I really like that, and the light is beautiful throughout!
Where is #3 located? That's a lovely, picture postcard scene.

Bill, no TS lens on that trip. Just some complicated math to get the hyper focal distance.... No, I'm lying. More like take a shot, zoom in on the LCD to check if everything is sharp
Don, I didn't get a chance to go very far from our campsites. When the weather was nice we all prefered to just lay in the cool water or go diving off those black rocks in the middle, but on this trip we were too tired to go anywhere.
John, that last shot is from Gothic Road somewhere between the bridge and the trailhead for Rustlers Gulch. Google Earth isnt cooperating with the name of that peak but I'm sure someone here knows it.

Thanks everyone for such encouraging comments :wavey:

Aleks, All beautiful shots! Glad to see you have your priorities straight on that first one. Love it!

That first shot is killer, I really like the color and comp. I also like the other images as well.
