This is for the Big Hitters on this forum, like Erik, Bret, Jesse, Jack, Grant(No wait, you have been pretty active lately ), Guy, Stephen W. You guys are the ones we aspire to be, so let's not be stingy with your extraordinary works.
As Oliver said in "Oliver Twist," ...."Please sir, I want some more."
And don't get me started on the southern boys who comment and post a bit more.
John Mumaw (You post comments more than just about anyone, but we would like to see more of your outstanding work, too.)
Guy Schmickle
Adam Schallau
Invariably, when someone makes lists, there are those who get left out. If you haven't been mentioned by name so far, it's either because you haven't had your name on the pages in awhile, so this old guy forgot you, or you just made the cut by posting and commenting just enough.

Well, Morris, I'm not sure if you meant me or other Jacks around here, but I'll give it a shot and rise to the bait. (My excuse for not posting here is that I'm in Switzerland for the winter!) So, in a totally OT post, here's one from Engelberg, where I'm spending the season. I've posted much more here: http://www.mountainphotographer.com/

Holy cow that looks cold!! You are a brave man!!

Amy - what you don't see is the cable-car station just off the right edge of the crop. LOL...

Are you really a helicopter pilot and never told anyone of your secret to getting to these precarious viewpoin
Great view, depth, and comp, plus the clouds add to the mix.
Love the series on you site as well, can't you rent camping gear there?
Jack, love that shot and a lot of others on your site! Looks like you had a fantastic trip.
Morris, I am counting myself lucky to be out of your radar man. I'm sure half the people on the forums start sweating when they see a post by you now days.
Jack, yes it was you that was "he who was to be named." What a phenomenal shot!
I get sick just looking down in your photo. Thanks for bringing this.
Koveh, you are one who has been posting and commenting just enough lately to not be called out. Thank you for your frequent participation in both comments and posts, Dude!

Wow, thanks, Morris. I feel unworthy of being on your "list" especially after seeing Jack's unbelievably good image.
I'll lower the bar a bit by posting an image that I've yet to post anywhere...
Beautiful shot Grant. You handled the dynamic range in the scene very well. I hear this place is quite tricky to get to as well.
Posted by John Mumaw on January 26, 2011 at 7:52 PM
Glad you brought this one up, Morris. Only because we may never have seen these outstanding images by Grant and Jack.
I'm fortunate to get one good image a month, and that's during the best of times (e. g. anytime but winter ). But now you've forced my hand to post a couple of outtakes from my last weekend in the Page, Az. area that were never going to see anyplace but the dark confines of a hard drive.
P.S. Don't forget to callout Adam Kavalunas!

Just not that into it....

'Navajo Wave'
Just when the light got good, the sun crept behind a bush 50 ft. away and cast shadows on this golden wall outside of Page. Didn't have time to get my chainsaw, so now this is an outtake.
2 more outstanding images, John! Great use of lines in a comp, rich color, and revealing light. The shadow doesn't bother me one bit. Thanks for bringing these.
Adam.....Adam......Adam Kavalunas? Nope not ringing a bell. Must have been too long since he posted for me to remember.

Can i pick the winner of this series to take home with me from the shindig??
Wow, I'm flattered, Morris but I have no delusions of grandeur. I just do what I love. And, no Big Hitter list would be complete without Todd who's earned his place on it since before many of us even knew what we were doing.

Glad those two saw the light of day, John. At first glance I thought you were crazy for excluding them for your web site, but the quality of shots on your site is high enough that I can kinda sorta see why you excluded them and will let you off the hook this time.
Posted by Jack Garrett on January 26, 2011 at 10:11 PM
Wow,,,,great captures from all you guys but that one from Jack is just over the top!!! I like the sunburst over the arch as well.
Posted by Bret Edge on January 26, 2011 at 11:01 PM
I'm quite flattered, Morris. After checking out all the killer images posted thus far I'm hesitant to follow suit but here goes nothing. I photographed this scene at Goblin Valley SP a week or two ago.
Guy's right: Todd, where are ya, dude?!
Posted by Bret Edge on January 26, 2011 at 11:03 PM
Okay, one more - this is actually my favorite photo from the whole Goblin Valley project. Not the kind of thing everyone is into but it's what I'm enjoying more and more these days. Thanks to all here who continue to tolerate me!
Posted by Morris McClung on January 26, 2011 at 11:22 PM
Just more impressive images from you guys. None of you ever fail to amaze and inspire us.
Guy, the reason he's not listed with you guys here is that he comments more than anyone else and posts quite frequently lately, so he's not eligible for the shout out. And yes, he is also in the Big Hitter group. He is the heart of this forum.

That's the version of that Goblin Valley shot I was hoping to see, Bret! Those rocks in the foreground are just about as interesting as the hoodoos. Which version do you prefer?
Posted by Darren Huski on January 27, 2011 at 9:17 AM
Morris, you should really count yourself lucky with all the activity you already get here. Look at the other regional forums and they are ghost towns. I frequent the regional forums of all the areas I visit and it is pretty slow. In the CSNP once the Arkansas folks go into hibernation, its just me an two guys from Kansas left.......
Posted by Bret Edge on January 27, 2011 at 10:15 AM
John: I'm really not sure which one I prefer. I might be slightly partial to this one. You may have noticed that I zapped the rodent hole in this version. Good thing I had a shovel in my truck to fill in the hole!
Posted by Koveh Tavakkol on January 27, 2011 at 11:25 AM
That Goblin Valley shot is outstanding work Bret! Love your comp and the colors.
Posted by Phillip Noll on January 27, 2011 at 11:05 PM
Now there's some awesome shots! Great work everyone!

What they told me is true ... you are stirring up trouble, Morris!! And just for the record, Eric is way bigger than I am.
I've been lurking far too infrequently ... and shooting even less lately. Life trumps photography at times. But here's one from a recent shoot with Aleks. Lamar Valley, Yellowstone, on Christmas Eve.

Im glad Morris just called out you guys!! Holy cow!! Awesome shots! I'm staying with the newbies :)Wait....I am a newbie :)
