OT: A few from the Smokies
Hope posting photos from other areas is OK. This is partly to give Morris something to do  and to get your feedback on these images.

This first one is John Oliver's cabin.

Beautiful colors and comp. This reminds me of those images you see on the 1000 piece puzzles.

EDIT: The rest of these are awesome as well, now that I see them.

I think that 1,2,3 and 5 are spectacular! Beautiful colors.

I like em all. Last one would be my fav. I like the story it conjures. Maybe because I watched Secretariat last night.
I like #3 better than 2 (like them both). Not sure why. Draws me into the picture more. Nice job.

I think they are all very well done. Love the color!! Very nice job indeed!!

These all have a very painterly look to them, PN. I would almost say maybe too much of one, and saturation to the hilt, but geez, these are all such sweet eye candy. That reflections one is a mind-blower.

REALLY like "reflections". Don't be scare to crop out more of the rocks, to push the abstract feel. Just food for thought. Excellent series.

I really need to visit the Smokies some autumn. These are all outstanding, PN. Glad to see you being a bit more active around here these days!

Great series. Really like 2 and 3. Good stuff and great conditions.

Really digging #2. Great work.

Excellent series, Phillip! I love the punchy colors and contrast. I think they suit the subject. The horse image is my favorite.
Posted by Aleksandra Miesak on January 28, 2011 at 11:02 AM
They kept getting more impressive as I scrolled down. Did you pay off that horse with some apples??? That one is just perfect with the light hitting him (her?) just right. And the cabin is a gorgeous classic. How long before fall??? :frown:

Thanks for the comments! Yeah, they are kinda painterly. That is intentional. They look more so here on NPN (I'm on my work PC) than at home on my mac. Jpg compression maybe? No matter. And yes, I'm a color junkie! :jump: But I make no apologies. I love color!

That horse was so curious! He (she? I didn't lift up her skirt) kept licking my camera thinking it was made of sugar!

Phillip, Very Nice series! Just a little over saturated for my tastes but you said that was intentional. I visited the Smokies and Blue Ridge Parkway this fall for the 1st time. Such a Beautiful area especially in the fall.. Really like the Reflections and Horse shots!

Wow, great series! Reflections and the horse shot are my favs, but they're all great. I like the way the branch frames the horse's head. Great use of the light.

Yeah, Phillip, these'll keep me busy for awhile!
I am diggin' the vibrant color, great light comps. What an excellent series! :toast:
We better see more like this and often or you might hear from me again.

Color is just outta this world! I had no idea the Smokies wore such a fine autumnal coat. You truly did justice to this area.
An of course, the last image with that forlorn looking horse is brilliant! Superb catch, Phillip!

Wow, these are stunning, Phillip--nice work! :toast:

I really like reflections! Beautiful. I am with those preferring a little less saturation but still beautiful!
Posted by Jackson Frishman on January 28, 2011 at 11:42 PM
Good to see you back here, Phil! This is the kind of set that actually makes me want to venture east of the Rockies some day. I'm really loving the first two and Reflections.

How dare you post photos not in RM area

Really though, very good series! :toast:

These are all outstanding! As others have mentioned, that last one is incredible-the light captured, the story, the mood-WOW. I also like the second shot. I personally don't mind the color or processing one bit, excellent work!
