Wow, the forum is really hopping! Thanks for the call-outs, Morris. I've been having a really dismal couple months photography-wise, but hopefully I'll start getting out soon. For now, here's one from the summer, on the Middle Fork of the Salmon in Idaho. Unfortunately, I hurried too much here, didn't work the scene the way I should have, and therefore this comp is cropped quite a bit more than I'd like. Afraid I won't be printing this one very big, but nevertheless, I like it too much not to share.

So in the spirit of Morris, how about some Northern Rockies shots? We're the Rocky Mountain forum, after all, not the Southern Rockies and Utah Desert. Jesse? Doug Roane? Dean Sauskojus and Aaron Cowan, you guys ever drop in here? I know you've got shots to make us Coloradans and New Mexicans jealous.

Not the easiest light to shoot, but the areas of shadow and light fit together as well as a jigsaw puzzle.

This has such an I-want-to-be-there-right-now! feel to it. Very nice.

Having been down the MF close to a dozen times, I am embarrassed to admit, I've never climbed very high above the canyon for an aerial view. I really like this viewpoint, it gives a really nice feeling of depth to the image. The only hiking I ever did was to Loon Hot Springs and also up Pistol Creek to the hot springs near the top of that drainage. Usually we would spend so much time on the river, we didn't have much time for off river recreation.

That is one excellent scene you witnessed here. And you did a very good job on the exposure to keep it this balanced. Beautiful shot.

Great color and light. Also really like the shadows.

Love the light and the subject! Gets me all excited for the fly fishing season :)

Like Don, I did not hike above for any photos on a couple of Middle Fork trips. Just had a film P&S then. That bend was a nice camp spot and the trout obliged a little.
I could envision a pano crop right above the last river bend.
