Carol Hyman suggested that we consider establishing a Flora forum for discussion of technique, subject ID, software applications, etc. Any interest, comments?

Great idea! If I have questions I usually ask in the gallery and often get answers but I would doubt that many see either the question or the answer.

I think its a great idea!

Thanks for posting the suggestion, Bill.
I think we could use the forum for id, additional info on various techniques from cramming to stacking. And I'm sure that many folks have more ideas. For example, a couple of years ago, Catherine was working on panning. Pat and Gary and many others are scanning, and this past year I did some work shooting still life elements positioned on glass. Many of you such as Ellen have a great deal of knowledge about types of flora and have been generous in sharing your knowledge.
Only because it's well after midnight and I'm in the midst of moving, I'm not taking the time to dig into the archives to mention all of you and your talents by name, so apologies to one and all.
We have a lot of talent in Flora and all of us have been doing a lot of experimentation.
And I know you guys have a ton of other ideas, too...
Or just put everything under one umbrella with a macro/close-up/invertebrate/flora forum.

Like Mark, I think you do get interesting threads in the comments on individual images which would perhaps get better exposure in a Forum. I have myself sometimes refrained from posting a topic in the General Discussion Forum because it was really only relevant to Flora addicts. I guess this is a slightly long-winded way of saying I would be in favour of giving it a try. Also, Robert may have a good point about a Flora/Macro Forum - there is obviously some overlap there - but, if there is to be a new Forum, perhaps it might be best to start with just Flora and see how that went ?

Wonderful idea. I'd love to read about the techniques you guys use to make such fantastic images.

I will make this happen! Bogged down with the "real job" this week but will put the new flora forum online next weekend.

Jim: I have to admit I'm pleasantly surprised by the response. Thanks for your help. >=))>

Awesome idea! Like Ian, I haven't posted some things in the general forum b/c it only really applied to flora, but I didn't have an image to post to start the discussion. Exciting stuff!
Terrific idea! I always wonder what techniques so many of you out there use to edit and produce such fantastic works of art! Flora is really special, in that we love artistic treatment of the flower almost more than the perfect reproduction of the specimen.
