Today is Kansas Day, 150 years old. There should be celebrations state wide the rest of the year. This is from one of my favorite Kansas spots, Konza Prairie.
Any other Kansas contributors out there?

My wife used to live in Kansas so I will also contribute one from the Konza prairie.

I have been to Kansas, so I'll join in a birthday celebration.
Nice Konza Prairie images too.

Thanks for the thread Ken. Here's a little contribution that might have more of the days gone by look to it, at least that's what I attempted to create with it. This also was taken on Konza Prairie.

Very nice guys!! I met up with a group of photographer's at the Clay County Court House where we had full access to the court house and we had models dressed in 1860s period clothes. Very fun day. Here are some of my pictures, http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeffheidel/sets/72157625808523071/

Nice job of capturing the event, Jeff. I really like the last one and the windmill shots.

Nice shot Ken! I went out to Tuttle Creek Lake for some sunrise shots on the 29th to celebrate.

Good thread, here is my addition. I took this Saturday morning at Quivira NWR. We didn't have the clouds that eastern Kansas had :(.

Well I'll throw my offering in to this thread in honor of Kansas' 150th. This image was made a couple of years ago when Brad Mangas was kind enough to show me around the restricted areas of the Konza Prairie. I really enjoyed the tour and getting the opportunity to make a few images with Brad as the sun set.
Wonderful images everyone!

Here is one of my favorites from last Saturday. This was taken at sunrise as I was heading to Clay Center.

All these are really beautiful photos, too bad Kansas is such an ugly place :)

You forgot to add flat Scott :)

Great images to celebrate Kansas Day, everyone. It might be a good thing that other people don't realize how beautiful Kansas is - then you'd be inundated with photographers and sightseers, and you'd have to fight them off with a stick to get to the prime photography spots! The prairie will always have a very special place in my heart, and I know when early June comes around, I'll miss the Flint Hills and its carpet of green velvet very much.
