I was digging through some old images, working and reworking things. Here are a few I am curious if you like. All from the Guadalupe Mountains in west Texas.
This first one is out on the gypsum sand dunes on the western edge of the park.

Another from the dunes. Does the more square comp work? How about the grass?

Third one is from some salt dunes that are slowly being covered by grass and yucca. Looking away from the Guadalupes toward the Black Mountains.
Darren, my wife and I've been contemplating going to Guadalupe. Never been there, but heard David Muench speak glowingly of them. I see by your wonderful images we'd better make our plans. Do you have a recommendation of when to visit? Thanks, Barry
We are going on a motorcycle ride in May to Big Bend, TX. Is this near there? I'm with Barry and would love some recommendations of places to shoot.
Thanks,
Dottie

Dottie and Barry, the Guadalupe Mountains are a fantastic and lightly visited park.
May is pretty warm and dry in west Texas. Big Bend is downright hot then-certainly not the month I'd pick but if heat is ok with you, its still big awesome country. Guadalupe Mountains is nice all year although cold and windy in Feb-April, favorite time is end of October to see fall color. Conversely Big Bend has lodging and nearby towns, the Guadalupes are a campers park and lodging is 50 miles away in Carlsbad.

And Barry, they are almost 300 miles apart. Big beautiful country in between.
Feel free to ask questions, drop me an email or look around my website and blog linked below I have alot of stuff on both parks.

Love the first shot Darren! I like the square crop on the second, that last clump of grass cut by the edge of the frame distracts me a bit, but nothing major. Love the light in these shots.

Hey Darren, I like the first shot - but the second one makes it for me. The grass is the foreground is a good anchor and the clouds rolling on the hills with the leading edge of the clouds on the right extending beyond the hills is a very nice touch. I think the square crop is right for it.
