Bald Eagle from Lock #14
Inspired by Kendall's posts of eagles from the Mississippi River, I thought I would post an image I made from Lock #14 a couple of weeks ago.

The temps were bitter cold and the sky was very gray. But the eagle activity was awesome! Absolutely fascinating to watch the behavior of these eagles. And the acrobatics they perform? Wow! Absolutely stunning.

Canon 5D, 500mm IS

Comments/Critiques welcome.

(It's been awhile since I've posted a photo here, so I hope I got the sizing/scaling right. It was hard to get this down to size! )

Nice shot, Deb. It is a great place to watch the performance. I wonder what they talk about while setting in the trees watching all the photographers waiting for them to catch a fish. It is also a great place to meet other photographers and visit.

Great catch, Deb....perfect timing! I'm glad you had the chance to go see the BE.

As for sizing...you are allowed to post up to 700 pixels at the longest side, and you can also post in our new MWNP IC gallery (in case you didn't know). There is a link above the green bar on the right side.

Thanks Kendall! Yes, it is a perfect place to watch and photograph the eagles. Lots of photographers, but there is plenty of room for everyone, their big glass and tripods.

Thanks Toni! I have been trying to get to the Miss. River to photograph the BE's for over 2 years now! It was well worth the wait.

Nice shot. Looks like he is better at fishing than I am.

Thanks Philip. Every now and then they missed the fish they were going for. But most of the time, they caught their target. They are amazing to watch.

Thanks Cindy! How have you been? The eagles are amazing Cindy. And yes, to see so many in one place was quite thrilling! I know you would LOVE it.

That's a great shot Deb! I would love to get out to that location some day.
