I just did a pretty major overhaul to my main blog (Birds of Long Island) and was looking for some feedback - positive or otherwise! I'm far from decided on the color scheme and have been staring at a computer screen far too much today so I might have missed a few things! Anyway, please check it out and if you have time either e-mail me or leave a comment.
Additionally, I did two book reviews. The first is for John Turner's Book Exploring the Other Island which features a dozen of my photos so there is certainly a personal connection! This is the first published book that features my photography.
The second book is Luke Dempsey's A Supremely Bad Idea which is about his newfound addiction to birding and subsequent whirlwind trips to America's birding hotspots. It's an awesome book for birders and it's a good read even if you have no interest in the subject. Enjoy!
Luke, I definitely like the hummingbirds in the background, and the color scheme seems to complement your images well. A small nit is that, on my monitor (1600x900), the left hummingbird's wingtip seems to be repeated on the right edge; not a big deal at all, but if you're able to fix it, that would be better. And I didn't realize until I clicked on individual posts that the common tern image is in your header. It looks like your top post at first glance. Ideally, you might want to work up a header that's more clearly distinguished from the blog content. But it looks very nice, the images are great (especially the merlin!), and the reviews are fun too. Nice work!
Got Dempsey's book from Amazon yesterday - and read it straight thru today. It's hysterical! I was laughing on every page. highly recommended!
