This morning I left the frigid -40 degrees of Breckenridge for the tropical -10 temperatures of the front range. I was actually taking my sister to the airport, and decided I had to take a stop at Chautaqua on my way home when I saw the way the snow was sticking to the trees and flatirons. I had absolutely no winter gear with me so I decided to go with the standard fence composition, 15 feet away from my warm truck! Not surprisingly, the sky came out pretty dark with a polarizer.

Amazing how that little patch of sunlight in front of the fence adds so much to an already neat image.

Thanks Todd! Yeah, I was fortunate to show up just befre the sun filled the entire scene and was still being filtered through the trees. Can't say I worked very hard for it, but I'll take it!

Actually it was officially a cozy -30 at Breck this morn...but who's counting
Looks cold!

I'll echo Todd's thoughts. That little patch of light makes the image. I'm glad you braved the cold.

I really like this comp and the light does add a great extra element to this. Just a little evening out of the sky and this will be just excellent.

Great shot. The color is really quite beautiful. It's deep and rich.

I agree with Todd, that splash of sunshine in the foreground really gives it depth! Wonderful!
