I had to get out this morning to enjoy the double digit negatives, so i took a little drive up the Arkansas, which was just boiling with big chunks of ice. Sunrise was spoiled by some clouds on the horizon, but it was still a beautiful morning. Here's the Arkansas

2) A look down river

3) The N Sangres at sunrise

4) I drove about a mile up the road, then walked another mile or so in the BLM land off highway 50.

5) One more of the river. Thaks for looking!
Casualties: 1) My palms, theyre brown now after i foolishly grabbed part of my tripod without gloves on... 2) Some lens cleaner i had in my pack froze solid 3) My MKii completely lost the lcd screen, but still managed to get the shots!

Another nice series, Stan. IMO, you saved the best for last. #5 is fantastic!
So, on a serious note, are your hands OK? I've never had anything like that happen, but I'm sure it's coming as I love being out in the cold. BTW, is your camera actually damaged now, or did the LCD come back after it warmed up?

Thanks, Paul. Yeah my hands are fine, just brown/burnt, and so is my camera--it takes a licking and keeps ticking...

Stan you're a brave man, it's freezing!!! #4 is especially sweet, love the B&W conversion.
Nice set. I like #5 quite a bit with the reflection.

Like 4 & 5 the best, with 4 being my fav. I want to go there.

Stan, I give you tons of credit for going out and braving those conditions! I really like the #3, the pastel pink color of the sky and the blueness of the mountains really compliment each other. The B+W shot is great! Really like the comp, the road leads me into the scene. If I didn't know it was so cold I'd want to keep walking down it to see what's around the corner.

Nice stuff, Stan.

Has the Stancicle thawed out yet?

Preference goes to #4 B&W with the wavy road leading to the peaks. Sure looks like a lack of snow totals in the area.

Number 5 does it for me, Stan. The range of colors is beautiful. I was especially taken, once my eye left the yellow-orange band in the center, to the near black with icy blue patches in the upper left to the blue with patchy black ice in the lower right. I suspect you didn't plan it that way, but hey, kudos for making sure you were in the right place at the right time.

#'s 2, 4 & 5 are my favorites here. Surprisingly, the best work from this outing is here rather than in the 'Landscape' forum!
Kudos for getting out in that weather and pursuing all of this fine work!

They all scream winter! But the warm colors in the last one really contrasts beautifully with the ice floes. Looks like kayaking season is a few months away yet, oh well, it is still winter.

What no sand dunes? Just kidding Stan, nice series of images.#3 is my favorite but one in ESS is pretty good too.

2,4 and 5 are my favorites. The B&W is awesome!
I think this river needs to be fished :)

Nice work, Stan, I am really liking #1 with all the ice in the Arkansas River. By the way, I was in Fairplay on Wednesday morning and the actual temperature was -33, just glad my car would start! Not sure if that was a record, but is was the coldest I have ever experienced.

The set is wonderful - I will perhaps never have the courage to stay out in that cold.
