But I just found out one of my submissions was a top 10 finalist to the people category for Smithsonian's Photo Contest. Pretty excited and I have run out of friends and loved ones to tell so your tag your it. Cool thing was it was my favorite photo from the trip. Not nature oriented though.

Congrats! Do you have a link to the image?

Sorry yes, this is the image at flickr. Smithsonian doesn't post them for voting until March 1st (ish).

Congrats! Where was that taken? Is the bicyclist holding a cell phone to his ear?

Thanks. I was in Orvieto, Italy (just north of Rome in Umbria) in October. It was my first morning in Italy after flying in the previous day and I got up at 5:30am to go walking around looking for photos. My first time over in Italy, and I have to say the history that exudes from that place is surreal. This morning was thick with fog and I thought it added a little something extra to the streets. I set up at this corner waiting for someone to come into the frame and this guy came from the other direction. He raised his hand to his hat to pull it down from the rain and I took the shot. A couple of others from that same morning:

Although I realy like the B&W, that last color image is my favorite.
I'd say you had a very successful 1st day in Italy. :toast:

Awesome job, that 1st BW one really rocks, just a classic city shot with that fog effect. I also really like the color shot as well. Congratulations.
