A very sensuous image, and great use of selective focus.
You also need to clean some dust off your sensor

If it were me, I'd bump up the yellow just a bit, and maybe add a little contrast, but that would probably take it beyond the realm of reality and convey this as something it's not (namely, a blazingly colorful flower). Best to leave it as is and avoid Todd's Temptation to "Disneychrome" it.

Guy's use of the word sensuous pretty much says everything that needs to be said about it. It's a beautiful shot. Make her buy her own CF cards.

Bret - I really like it. The selective focus is very sensous and inviting. As Todd eluded to this image has many possibilities that would take it from reality, but it would be tempting to increase the yellow a bit in the center and possibly blur the sepals a bit. . .

I really like this image. Maybe you could post it in the flora critique gallery and get a few more comments.

Georgia O'Keeffe in the making, eh? Pretty good eye, I'd say. Nice comp and I like the depth of field - good choice. If it were mine, I'd boost the whites and try to saturate the yellow a bit to give it a warmer, slightly more ethereal feel; the in-camera work is very solid. Nice one, Melissa.

Thanks, guys! I loved it as soon as I saw it on the tiny little LCD screen on the back of her camera. She did all her own PS work on it, too. She's a quick study and I'm really proud of her.

I'll show her these comments. I'm sure she'll want to play around in PS with it some more this evening.

Very nice...I like it a lot. I would increase contrast just a tad and increase the saturation in the yellow as well. Nice choice of DOF.

Congrats. on a fine image

This is really good! I like the soft light and slightly muted colors as everything says soft as you look at it. All that without loosing too much detail, just right!

Darren, I'll respond to your post just as soon as I get out of these darned heels! Um, I mean...

Melissa thanks you all for your kind comments on her photo. She's too much of a scaredy cat to join and post her own photos so I suppose I will have to do it for her until she gets up the nerve to do so herself. Thank you all!
