In the process of going through my 2010 photos to decide what to include in the 2012 calendars, I've come to the inescapable conclusion that I might want to take pictures of scenes without clouds from time to time. Geez, I've been struggling to come up with enough images without fog or inclement weather or some other Cloudman variation, just to keep the calendars from looking like one long storm fest!
Anyhoo, here's a couple non-cloud images that I dug out of my 2010 archive. Both of these were taken up on Corkscrew Pass in the San Juans on the morning of July 29th.

I like number one. It looks like the worlds toughest golf course. Oh yeah, and I think the light is nice too.
Ahh, summer! These are really inviting, Todd. It's good to remember from time to time that the dramatic weather we photographers love isn't necessarily what will work in every context. I have to make a conscious effort to shoot some blue skies for my rafting company: not many folks want to sign up for a rainy river trip, however intense and dramatic it might look.

Really like the first image with the red in the foreground and the green behind. Nice shadows in the second image.

Both of these are beauties, Todd. I would be happy to see either one on next year's Calendar.

If you're looking for a vote to choose which image will grace your calendar, then #1 is it.
The sweet light, gorgeous colors (& red/green color contrast), better skies and the sharp diagonals in the foreground make that one the winner by a mile.
Excellent capture, Todd!
Delightful color and depth - they're both lush images!

#1 is smok'in! the great light on the background contrasted with the red foreground is superb. It seems in number 2 the left foreground hill is hiding my view of the mountains in the distance so I don't think the composition is as strong.

Todd, What Aleks said! But then I'm crazy about any shot that has the Red Mountains in it!

"#1 is awesome--great light! #2 would look better if there was some fog swirtling aound the peak... "
and you can part the Red Sea while your adding the clouds.. I like #1!

Dude you only have 2 pictures in your whole collection without clouds........well that must suck!

I'll be the oddball here. While I think both images are pleasing to the eye, they are not as strong as much of your other work. I'm willing to bet that you've got much better shots in your archive.

Continual "Storm fest" is not a bad thing. Your strongest work. Never gets old, if you ask me.
