Saves me going Nikon. Not sure about the Tc thing though, not something a needed on a zoom....on a prime it would be worth having.

Just what I want
- just have to sell the house now and I'll probably be able to put down a deposit on one if the prices for all their upgrades are anything to go by.
Having a built in 1.4X Extender that can be enabled at the flick of a switch would be superb, assuming the image quality is ok. It'll be interesting to see what the weight of the lens is and also the price
I wonder if the built in 1.4x converter will be any different in terms of IQ or focus to one which you take in out. I see it does not mention the price on the article...

I would still think the TC idea is better suite to a prime, as with a zoom and a standard TC you can still zoom? Odd that this idea was not added to the new primes, or at least a couple of them.
Mark, you're not swapping back again are you? Let me know when you've finished with it if you do and I'll give you a good price!
Don't suppose you've got a Canon 800 mm stashed away have you?
The built-in converter sounds great! Won't it match the optical specification of the lens perfectly, thus producing superior image quality?

I do hope the converter does fit the lens perfectly and rather than adding elements to the lens simply swaps one set of elements for another, thus being a native 576mm..Oh man I want one.
