I think I may be out of my depth
I used UKNP as an aid to assist my learning curve which was pretty steep. With this new format that prevails the quality of images is superb but there seems no place for lesser quality still striving to learn posters or am I getting the wrong end of the stick? Maybe I've been in the wrong place all along.

I've been trying to improve my flight shots as one thing we do have in great numbers are gulls. Having taken plenty of birds butts I really wanted to seek the correct direction head on. I added to my confusion by using a boat and hand held why take the easy route when you make it even more difficult.

Canon 1D3 Canon 35mm-350mm f/3.5-5.6L ISO200 230mm 1/400sec @ f5.6 hand held RAW to lightroom resized to post full frame.

Critique Advice Comments most welcomed.

Thanks for looking.

You're not alone Barry, I'd class myself as a "lesser quality still striving to learn poster" too so welcome to the club mate
This is the best place to learn, I've posted on other websites where all you get is "great shot" etc, even when I knew it wasn't, at least on here they'll tell you straight what your image is like.

Oh, great shot BTW

Hi Barry,

Looks a bit dark on my screen. You can try to brighten the bird a bit more in PS. Also the bird is a bit far to the left. Just give the bird some more 'virtual' space to look into. So more room on the left would be good. Sharpness look spot on.

Hope this helps :wavey:

I agree with Edwin, should I be worried (?), needs to be a touch brighter. Not that I am a reference for decent shots, just doing my best to learn too. :toast:

Barry,

I think you are in the right place, I have found posting here very usefull and people have been very keen to help.

Go for it post on the main critique page comparing your shots to ones you aspire to take and having very experienced and noted people comment is invaluable.
