I was with a couple of my buddies somewhere between Castle Rock and Co. Spgs. trying to learn this night shooting thing. I have a ways to go but it looks like it can be fun. I used my wife's Sony NEX-5 for these shots and it's a neat little camera to work with. Why are the star trails blue instead of white?

On the way home, we came across this.

I have very little experience with night shooting myself, but I like what you captured. I could be way off base, but I think the light emitted by starts has either a blue or red shift depending on which direction the are moving in the universe. The second shot is really nice, by the way!

For the first image I would crop from the bottom, second image nothing to nit pick that one.

If you use a telephoto, you'll see the stars are all different colors!

Very cool, I have a damn good time night shooting. The star are different colors because they are different temperatures, we can't see the colors because we become almost color blind in the dark as our eyes adjust

Jack I really like these. I'm not a night photo guy by any means but I think they are cool. I want to learn how very badly though---hint anyone! The second is my favorite. Just lots of memories on roads and mornings like this. Great color in the clouds!

I suspect the blue stars have something to do with white balance setting. Really cool shots, though, both of them.
