Wall Lake
This was from an 09 trip to Flat Tops Wilderness. I only had a little joby tripod with me so it was hard to get above the brush along the shoreline. I proper this one on a boulder. I would like to get some feedback. Winds were about 15mph and about an hour later it rained and then started snowing on us. Just another August day.

Ok, how do you optimize the size for uploading. I tried save for web and devices in photoshop and 700x300 makes the file to big (300kb limit). I'll put it on flickr and point to it when I get to work.

The large, centered boulder really domiates this composition. Did you really want to make it the main subject of this image?

When you are saving-for-the-web in photoshop, use the jpeg quality slider to reduce the file size.

I think that instead of the joby tripod, I would have just bumped up the ISO a little and handheld it to the composition you want. You can put it on continuous-shooting mode and take several exposures for each shot and then see which one is in best focus. As it is, it doesn't look like this is in perfect focus anyway. The light also seems a little blah, so I don't think this shot compares with the great shots of the spider web and b&w city shots you posted earlier.

The foreground hides the background, which is what I really want to see.

Thanks guys. Good feedback. I liked that area (Flat Tops) a lot. Didn't come away with much to speak of. Hadn't studied comp a whole lot when we did this trip. I'll keep learning.

Grant said it best, so I'll just ditto him. Keep bringing your shots. These guys can help anyone improve!

I'll echo Bill's and Grant's thoughts. This sure is a beautiful place though and certainly worth returning to.

Yup, what Grant said. Hand hold was my first reaction. f/8 can be sharper than you think. Watch those photographer shadows too.
