Hi Jerry,
Just navigate to the NPN Photographers Gallery and click on "Post a photo." The NPN Photographer's Gallery is linked both under the "Galleries" and "Membership" navigation links at the top of the page.
You might review the "Posting guidelines" which is also in the green navigation bar.

Jerry, if you mean an avatar (like the little keyboard image I have), that is uploaded on the Preferences screen.

So here is a noobish question ... how do I get the avatar down to 10k ... I am using Photoshop Elements 8 ... and the lowest I can get one down is like 34k? :)

Hey Mark,
Go to File->Save for Web and uncheck the ICC Profile box. Then tweak things 'til you achieve the 10kb file size.
By stripping out the color profile, you'll lose data that isn't needed for an avatar.

Make sure you get rid of metadata to if that doesn't work. The metadata can be more than 10K itself sometimes.
