One thing I have noticed in our area is the CHP and local law enforcement are much more aggressive with enforcement of traffic laws.
Be safe out there!

My wife and I have both noticed increased presence of Sheriff's partol cars parked on side streets near intersections with stop signs. We think they are looking for "California" style rolling stops. On a similar vien, saw a thing about the 10 worst cities for speeding tickets. Only LA made it for CA, 3 cities were in Texas which is apparently the biggest user of this sort of revenue enhancement. Houston was #1 in the country with an average of 3000 speeding tickets per day. That must pay for a lot of silver bullets.

It is a little irritating to think that the health of the state budget plays a role in the policing of our public highways. Then again, I wonder if there's been a study that links traffic fines and their impact on driving behavior? Regardless, I for one would like to see that texting-while-driving fine increased to $500 or more.
Jason, doesn't it play a role in almost everything?
Not enough teachers, so kids suffer?
Not enough jails or guards, so people let out of jail early, many to re-offend?
Massive layoffs since there is no money to keep positions?
A very disturbing situation, and I sure don't have answers.

Thanks for the post. That disabled parking violation sounds high. I was ticketed in a mall by city police in San Bernardino for parking NEXT to the handicapped space and the fine was going to be $396. I showed photographic evidence that I was not in the actual space and that the markings were ambiguous as to where the regular spaces started and they tossed the ticket.

Maybe our new governor or the the ex-governor will be the fine Czar.
