I was wondering if anyone would like to share their favorite Southern Oregon Coast locations for sunrise/sunset and all times in-between? My wife and I are celebrating our 1st aniversary by staying a few days a the Tu Tu Tun Lodge along the Rogue River, not too far from Gold Beach. I've been down there before, but didn't spend too much time taking photos. We are there longer this time and I should be able to get out here and there.
Boardman State Park is down that way too and has lots of viewpoints. One of my favorites was North Island Viewpoint.
If you want to go a bit north, the Cape Blanco lighthouse is a good choice as well.
There's a pretty good view from the top of Cape Sebastian, but it can be pretty windy up there.
Just south of Port Orford is a group of rocks called Redfish Rocks. That can be a pretty nice spot for sunset.
Port Orford itself is interesting with its boat hoist (no real harbor so all boats are hoisted out of the water and "parked" on their trailers)
In the town of Brookings, visit Azalea Park. Harris Beach State Park is also in Brookings and is a good sunset spot and easy to get to. There's a short hike to a good viewpoint as well as shots right from the beach. Some decent tidepool areas too.
Really, for sunsets, you can pretty much drive up and down the coast and look for interesting sea stacks and other good sunset spots. You won't be lacking for locations.
