Lapwing Portrait
20D, 400/2.8 + 1.4, ISO200, 1/1000 @ f8, Car window support + beanbag, C1pro + CS2.

Hi,

Thought I would post this to compliment Davids image of a Lapwing....

This one approached very close and allowed one shot as before being disturbed by a passing car.

Not my usual type of image but couldn't pass on the cahnce of a close-up.

All the best

A lovely intimate portrait Phil. Perhaps a teensy-weensy bit more room above the crest feathers at the top, but that's minor.

I love this shot for its ability to show a full range of colours on a bird that, from afar, can just seem black and white.

i really like this phil. i'm a big fan of closeups, and feel this gives the bird a personality, rather than a full version where it might look just a subject.

this is one bird of which i would love to know more statistics. i remember as a child there seeming to be hundreds close to our family home, but they dissapeared for many years. seem to be more about now.

Fantastic Phil - really like this close up portrait and the cropping seems spot on.
