After several months of reading this forum, taking a Photoshop class, reading some books, watching some videos, etc., I think I’m ready for some of your advice. This is a series of Mount Evans goat photos where I’ve tried to apply some newly learned techniques.
The original files were jpegs from a Canon XSi (I’ve since learned to always shoot RAW…thanks guys). Be as thorough as you’d like with tips and suggestions.

Ernie, love them all but number 2 is absolutely iconic.

They're all quite nice! Good poses...maybe try getting down to their eye level on the last two? Exposure seems perfect. Thanks for sharing and welcome to the group!

Love the interaction in the first one. And the black background really brings out the goats. Agree about the lower level on the last two images.

That second one is very majestic. Love the spatial relationships in this image. Nice work.

All are awesome! So that's what great exposure looks like. 2 is something I would consider buying. Just sayin.

These are all superb, Ernie! Great job, sir.
And I remember that second one quite well. I knew it was a winner then with a bit more editing, and you proved it here! This is ready for a postcard or calendar, and definitely on your wall.

Ernie: That second image is killer!! We should hang out and see how it takes people to get it :P

Bert

I like the first with how the light gives a crystalline glow to the hair. Possibly crop off the bottom rock to give more focus to the upper body and faces?
Nice composition in #2 to show the relaxed goat in its vast habitat.

Awesome collection. I love #2, but it seems to have a bit of an unnatural reddish/purple color balance to it. Adding a little cyan can improve the overall look. I'd also selectively darken just a bit around the rocks to get rid of the small halo too. Everything else seems processed very well though!
