I haven't shot much this winter so here is an older image that I think works well. I've been busy working on the Yellowstone ifotoguide for Bret and Dan which has taken up all my spare time. Hopefully the guide will be ready to go by this summer. I hope all is well with everyone and the images continue to look great as always on RMNP. Tell me honestly what you think of this one and thanks for the input in advance. Shot in the Madison Valley of Montana.

Maybe a touch more contrast into the ground. I think the clouds are awesome, but the bottom of the picture looks a little washed out comparatively.

I agree w/ Lance, Dean. Just a bit more contrast in the ground and this one will really rock. Love the sky and simple composition.
Can't wait to launch iFotoGuide: Yellowstone with all of your amazing photos!

I agree with the rest regarding contrast on the ground...too many shades of just grey for my taste in a b&w image. I'm also having a bit of a problem with the transition of the sky from light to nearly black. The top inch is almost a radical shift where I think that a gentler transition may be warranted.

Suggestions taken. Any better?

Yeah, that's quite a bit better, Dean!

Hey Dean,
I like the 2nd conversion better. It's a solid image with a nice, simple comp - I like it. Can't wait to see the Yellowstone ifotoguide - I would have been clueless at Arches last June without it. I'm starting to learn my way around Yellowstone a little more - spent a week there at the beginning of the month and had a blast!
