Strange.. most of the park roads are closed between March 15th and April 15th anyways (snow). And some of those roads don't even open till May 13th. So by the time the park is actually fully open it's almost summer already.

Regardless of what happens at the federal level, for at least the next two weeks, tourists will continue to flock into the park and all the beauty she has to offer.

If you look at the park website at the road opening times... that statement is clearly false. KBZK clearly needs to do a little more research before any of this can be interpreted properly.

I don't know how this budget battle will play out, but if there is a government shutdown, you can expect most Federal facililties to be closed. Most national parks, wildlife refuges, etc. would be closed due to a lack of staff members to operate. I was involved in the last shutdown (I think it was 1994 and I remember filing for unemployment) and the only Federal workers who worked were those that were considered essential to certain facilities and law enforcement positions. It's a pretty ugly scene. I hope common sense prevails.

I'm not sure how they can literally close Yellowstone, since the people of Silver Gate and Cooke City are located outside the NE entrance of the park, and can only access the outside world right now by driving through the park.

Limited facility operations make sense, but I doubt the north and northeast gates will ever close.
