Seems as though I'm on a software binge of late. Purchased LR3 on sale last month for 1/2 off and just purchased CS5 for $299 on sale as an upgrade to Elements 9. I downloaded the trial version of Capture One Pro and love how its works with some pics I took of my kids but wonder if I will see a noticeable difference with doing landscape RAW conversions. I have been using Capture NX and like and hate it. Like it because it allows me to use my D700 camera controls but hate it since it is buggy and likes to crash if I work too fast. Another thing I notced with Capture One is that the software is GPU driven and much faster in giving previews of my changes. NX capture is not. Haven't used LR3 for RAW conversions as yet.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I shoot 95% landscapes. I've used Capture One for about 5-6 years now and love it. I'm currently using Capture One 6. I decided to upgrade recently to the Express version after using both Express and PRO versions for a month. I have tested it against ACR and Capture NX and thought it was the best choice. The reason I chose the Express version was that either I didn't need some of the PRO features or that after testing some of the PRO features I didn't think they were as good as they needed to be. The only PRO feature I really miss is the Auto CA control. It was EXCELLENT, the best CA control I've ever seen anywhere! But the Layers option was very heavy handed and lacked features IMO, and I didn't think the perspective control was as good as I wanted it to be. Add to that the fact I didn't need the bulk processing feature and the choice of using the Express version was pretty evident. However, the final outcome (the conversion) will be the same with either version, and it will be excellent IMO. Well worth the money.

Thanks Bill! Didn't even think of the Express version. Keystone correction didn't interest me that much but also like the CA correction. Oh well, if I ever decide I want it in the future I can always upgrade.

Glenn, you might want to look back at this thread I started when I was upgrading. Brad Hill was a big help with several private emails. You might want to pull up his web site and check out his processing - excellent. http://www.naturephotographers.net/imagecritique/bbs.cgi?a=vm&mr=63175&CGISESSID=546fbd0de0d9dba25903caff04e377e4&u=27665

Thanks Bill. This was the thread that got me starting to look at Capture One 6. Also checked out Brad's site to see what he had to say. Downloaded the Express version and playing with it now. Don't think I will miss much if I don't go for the full Pro version.

Thanks again! Glenn :wavey:
