Watermark Copyright Mystery - Help!
Maybe someone can explain this for me...I was browsing through some of my files looking for a certain picture when I opened a folder of 180 selects from 2009. To my wonderment, surprise, and alarm, they all had a prominent watermark of (c)Orlando Luna on them like this one. I have no idea of who that is, or how my images could have been implanted with this copyright watermark. Help!

That's weird. Did you google him ?

What's also strange is that they are all 480 pixel jpegs, something I normally wouldn't do---I normally do them at 720 if I'm doing them for the web. I did google him---he's a self-described film/photography creator and Apple Certified Digital Media Professional Trainer from Miami. Never heard of him.

Not sure if this is a persons name. Sometimes if you download a trial version of software, it puts a watermark in there until you purchase it...plus it limits the pixel size, could this be the case? Some sort of trial software?

Are you sure that's the right Orlando Luna? Pretty sure I found the same guy, but his galleries don't show any landscape photos or that watermark. This is a real mystery! Have you ever uploaded the watermarked photos online?

OK, Todd, you are on to something. I started working on a book with these photographs in Booksmart, the design software for Blurb, the online on-demand book publishing site. But Booksmart is downloaded to your computer (I thought) and I hadn't uploaded any of the images to print a book as I had just layed out the first 20 pages. And, I've done several other books with Blurb and haven't seen anything like this. Looks like I need to contact Blurb to see if they can explain this.

Most people don't say I'm on TO something, they just say I must be ON something. Sometimes I wish I was.

Oh thanks, Stan, you're a lot of help. Neither is Blurb. The mystery continues.

I did a search for books by Orlando Luna, and found a book "Aperture 2" on Amazon. Perhaps this book was done with Blurb and your files weren't secure and there was a mix up or something more sinister. The description of the book says "Real-world exercises feature professional photography from a variety of genres, including photo-journalism, sports, wedding, commercial, and portraiture. All the files you need to complete the exercises are included on the DVD." The book was published in 2008, though. As a complete conjecture, maybe he's working on a new edition to the book and took some of your photos to use as sample images on the DVD. Don't know why they'd end up in your folder, though. If you haven't done so already, you might want to register the copyright on these images.
