"Here come ole flattop, he come movin' up slowly,"
Here are a few from my trip a week ago yesterday with Bill Pelzmann to RMNP. The light was well suited to B&W conversions as his photos showed. These are my feeble attempt without SEP2 and I do like some contrast in my conversions.

Comments and critiques always welcome, and thanks for looking,

Morris

And #3

Also, I am willing to make a deal to anyone, per Jack's post, that you can have the only prints of these 3 for only 2 million. :jump:

Very nice B&W conversions Morris. My favorite is #1.

Great stuff Morris!!!! I love these, particularly the second one of Taylor and Shark's Tooth. Where is Mr. Flattop though? BTW. The First Mtn is Hallett and the last is Ypsilon.

I like number 1 best...do you take checks?
Posted by Morris McClung on March 13, 2011 at 8:19 PM
Absolutely, Jack!

Erik, I thought that was Hallett, but Bill told me it was Flat Top. Of course, the wind was blowing so hard he either misunderstood me, or I him and mistakenly labeled it as Flat top. And what a shame, because it's such a great title.

Looks flat to me  just a little bit on the incline!
I really like #1! Lots of emotion!!

Morris spectacular shots! 1 and 2 are killer and work really well as B&W.

Good use of corner vignettes, Morris. These are all very cool. I think #1 is my pick of the litter.

Sorry for the miscommunication, Morris. We were obviously looking at different places.

I like your conversions, especially #1.

I think SEP2 would have let you bring out more detail in the snow, especially on the last one. I was surprised at the effectiveness of the new soft contrast control.

Your 3 for 2 offer is a great deal. Do you offer an installment plan?

I sure like #'s 1 & 3, Morris. Bill raises a good point concerning the snow detail in #3, and I sure would like to see just a bit more detail in the trees with #2. Gotta love these telephoto perspectives of our beautiful mountains!

And isn't ol' flattop groovin' up slowly?

I love #3! Awesome. Something seems off for me in the first two--especially #1, it looks like all the contrast was lost in the trees ibn back, like a bad HDR or something.

Thanks guys. :wavey:
Dang, John, it is groovin' isn't it. Well, it's been awhile since I even heard that song.
Stan, you're right about those trees, I should have masked out the orange slider adjustment on those.
Yep, Bill, I think we were looking at two different places up there, and I do wish I had SEP2 to do just that and recover some detail in the snow.

#1 is my favorite, and definitely worth a million. Oh, if I only had a million to spare.

I'm looking at these on a non calibrated monitor, so I won't comment on contrast or tones, but I think you've done justice to one of my favorite places, Morris. Nice work all around.
As far as payment, can you take a check from my Nigerian bank account?

I like #1 the most of these three, although the trees in the LLC look funky. I can visualize that a telephoto compression of the right half of number 2 in clearer conditions might look nice.

Nice series, Morris! #1 wins for me. The dark foregrounds of the others is a little heavy for me. Love the B&Ws lately.
