I haven't posted an image for such a long time....thought I would do this one that was a lucky shot.
I was actually eyeing something else when this caught my attention. I jumped out of my Jeep to take a quick snap to see how it might frame out. Liked the looks of it so I moved the Jeep and went to set up the shot...I wanted more of the roots and branches. By the time I had got set up...which wasn't long....the ghosts had dissipated. Still, thought you might like to take a look.

Glad to see this one here, Rick. Definitely some 'spiritual' clouds you captured, and being right by this particular tree was truly serendipitous.
The minor nits I have (tilted horizon, cut off branch) are really kind of irrelevant in the scheme of things. Right place, right time!

Hey John ~ thanks for chiming in here. I do have a question for you. Since you already saw this shot when I posted it on FB.....so you can compare the two....why have I lost so much here on this post. I did resize it but that was all....but I swear it just has lost something on this forum post. Any ideas? I didn't save it for the web or anything like that...but I didn't do that for the FB post. I've never noticed this much of a difference on other shots where I have posted on both FB and here also. Hmmmm...?
Not sure others can address this as there are not many here that would have see the FB post also. But if we are tagged on FB ....please take a look if you would. Thanks.
I sure like this, Rick! The sweep of the branches, the roots, the clouds and the rock strata all come together to make that juniper look like the center of the universe!
Wonderful play on textures, line and color balance. I love everything about this image!

John's thoughts echo my own. There does appear to be something funky going on in the clouds on the right. As much as I like the color contrast of the blue sky with the orange rock, I think this would also work well in B&W. Nice find, Rick.
I like the concept here. Love the sky and clouds, but those "merges" between the left side of the tree and shrubbery behind detract from the majesty of the tree. Also ditto what John said.
