Well again a strange twist of fate seems to be playing out for me and this time it seems as though I will be embarking on a wild journey.
I was recently offered a new job and again it is with the US Gov as a contractor. This time rather than heading to the nearest Army Post to write stories and shoot images of those returning from afar, I will this time be heading afar. I'll be base in Qatar where I will be working with Air Force, Army, Navy and Marines in the central command for the front supporting the Global War on Terror.
I look at it too as an opportunity to branch out a little more in my photographic journey and stretch my legs more in my journalistic endeavors as well.
I'm in a limbo period right now waiting period on getting Visas and Passport paperwork shot through, plus my physical and all the poking and prodding that comes with that.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that while I'm away, I will keep an eye on the group and be looking forward to coming back and getting deeper into the mountains again.
I'll update when I know for sure my departure date.
Good luck James.. looking forward to seeing some posts from you from some of the new locations you will be visiting.

Good luck and be safe. I spent some time down at Carson, first with the Cav and then 2 years in the "emerald city" as they used to call it (that was over 10 years ago now). Documenting the military would be a pretty cool gig.

Wow, that's cool, James! We're gonna need to see some more sand images from there.

That's great that you get to explore another facet of your considerable talents James. Take care and don't wear anything with a sales tag from Target on it...be safe.

One of my customers is deploying to Qatar next month. I've been to Bahrain (and other Arabian Sea garden spots) several times when I was in the Navy. The region is very interesting. Get ready for some heat (wet heat!). Have fun and enjoy your adventure. Save your money for some gold and carpets! The spice markets are fun too.
Thanks everyone. For those who didn't already know, the region isn't all that Foreign to me as I spent the 1st Gulf War in that same area either to the North or South of Qatar. I will be revisiting Kuwait as well during the trip.
I look forward to this as finishing some unfinished life business. Anyway, Im sure that the return will be even sweeter this time.
