The other Bosque
While returning from AZ through New Mexico I decided to spend a couple of hours at Bosque yesterday evening, my first time and though no sandhill cranes at this time of the year but loved what I saw.

Here are a quick few ... your C&C as always is highly appreciated.

Love the turtles!

Some real interesting comps, Soubhik--especially the last 2. The exposure seems a bit 'hot' here, maybe partly due to the time of day. :wavey:

Nice shots of the egret! You could easily fix the out of focus highlights in #1, but maybe not so easy with #2. That one is no big deal to me.
I also love the turtles, and the last bird (species?) looks real good. You did very well for yourself on this trip. Anything from Arizona?

The first one feels a touch tight, but I like his pose, and the others are very good. A little taming of the highlights as Stan suggested. I also like the turtle shot.

Thanks everybody for your comments.

@John - I will work on the highlights of #1.
Will have to process quite a few pics from White Sands and Saguaro

I think the last one in the pic is a double crested cormorant.

I like the first the best, due to the pose. S-neck and the lighting. The darker background makes the bird stand out well. It seems too tightly cropped though in that the tail is clipped off and I would like to see the feet area (even if they are hidden in grass).
In #2, the bright reflection spots on the water are overpowering to me.

Good for you for visiting off-season! My folks live near there, so we go year-round, and there can be great stuff to see besides the cranes and snow geese, and there's generally almost no one there. I especially like when the big soft-shell turtles start coming out.

I love your turtles and cormorant!

Great compositions. Really like the vertical Heron but my favorite is the cormorant especially with that blue eye.

Very nice light in the heron image. Like the vertical comp myself.
